kintsugi

Jonas broke one of my favorite plates a few weeks ago. Several
days later I read about Kintsugi, an old Japanese method for
repairing broken ceramics.
This morning I repaired my broken ceramics and saw confirmed
what I knew already;
if something you love is broken, you have to fix it.
It will become even more beautiful and valuable.

home

JJ and I spend the last tree days home, with the flu. Seems like
everybody got sick here, except Jonas.

The wooden animals are handmade in Japan. I love them!

UCHISHOKU 内食

Sometimes I really miss Japan. The only thing that helps on such a
moment is to buy something from there or to do something Japanese.
Wednesday was such a day. I went to the bookstore, hoping to find a
Japanese book and by wonder I immediately found one!
Tokyo Cult Recipes is a great cookbook, not only for the recipes but
also for the stories and pictures (see below).
Today I tried some dishes (pics above) and brought a little Japan into
my home.

koinobori こいのぼり

First schoolday of 2015. In the afternoon we made little koinobori fish.
In Japan they make them 5th of May, on Children's Day.
This one looks more like a pineapple-head :)

dots

I'm sitting home, because i'm ill. My throat is red with white dots.
Swallowing is really painful. Every effort is exhausting. Flynn doesn't
understand why I'm lying in the coach all day long. She want's
to play and go outside. I hope I will feel better tomorrow.
Photo's under from the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Thinking of dots,
is thinking of her. Also check out this nice video about her work.

oma, mali, misao and fukumaru

Since Laura brought her cats to the farm, oma has a new best friend.
Mali is one of Laura's cats who's always at oma's place. Oma feeds her
milk and meat. They love each other's company.
Every evening, before oma goes to bed, we hear her opening the front
door to call loudy "poeoeoeoeoesjeeeee, poeoeoeoeoeoesjeeeeeee..."
Oma and the cat always remind me think of a beautiful photo book I saw
in Japan and I was very happy to find the book here in Belgium!

The pictures below were taken by Misao's granddaughter. Misao is a
Japanese woman who found a kitten in the shed . She decided to take
care of it and now they are inseparable.
I can't stop looking at those wonderful pictures. They move me.
More pics here.
